Until recent, many years of research have failed to show why people of African descent remain disproportionately at greater risk of prostate cancer.

But in the last two years, there have been some developments, howbeit still at early stages.

According to a number of authorities such as Timothy R Rebbeck Ph.D, an epidemiologist at the university of Pennsylvania school of medicine; the HPC1 gene has been found in African-descent prostate cancer families more than similar cases involving white counterparts.

Although further conclusive test are being awaited; however, more fingers seem now to be pointing towards "gene" as the primary factor responsible for why African men are three times at greater risk of prostate cancer.
